Clyde Fadler

Clyde McAdoo Fadler, 98, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014, with his family by his side. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Monday, February 17, at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A funeral service honoring Clyde and wife, Helen, will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will be 3:30 p.m. at Fasken Cemetery, Carthage, MO. Clyde was born July 14, 1915, on his parents’ family farm in Carthage, MO, to George Washington and Mary (McAdoo) Fadler as the oldest of four children. While attending Ozark Jr. College, he met, fell in love, and married Aileen (Hill). Together they raised two sons. During World War II they moved from Carthage to Independence where he worked for Lake City Arsenal. Aileen passed away 1977 from cancer. Clyde married Helen Gravetter in the fall of 1978. During their 35 years of marriage, Clyde and Helen regularly traveled across the world collecting artifacts and sharing countless slide photographs with family. Clyde was a member of the Albert Pike Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and a Charter Member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. He proudly served as Scout Master for his sons’ Troop 230 at First Presbyterian Church in Independence for 8 years. He was a gifted carpenter and craftsman working for three tool and die companies. He is remembered as a loving husband and father and a kind and gentle grandpa. Clyde never missed the chance for a warm hug, a smile, and always wore a bolo tie. He was preceded in death by wife, Helen; sister, Margaret Grogan; and brothers, George and Leonard Fadler. Clyde is survived by sons, Allin and wife Lewanna of Franklin, TN; Steve and wife Cheryl of Overland Park, KS; grandson, Jeff and wife Lynda; granddaughter, Janell, all of Franklin, TN; Chris and wife Fara of Breckenridge, CO; Ben and wife Courtney of Fairway, KS (all Fadlers); and great grandchildren Katey, Amy, Matthew, Courtney, Sam, Jack, and Henry.
