Charles Vincent “Chuck” Blankenship, 66, Independence, MO passed away Monday, January 6, 2014.
Chuck was born February 4, 1947 in Anderson, IN the son of Virgil Oris and Katherine (Warnock) Blankenship. He was a U.S. Marine Corps and was recipient of the Purple Heart due to injuries received in the Vietnam War. Charles’s life was saved due to a church medallion he carried in his shirt pocket that took shrapnel. After his military service, Charles received his Masters in Science Degree from Warrensburg. Charles worked for a number of years with the V.A. Administration as a psychologist. He later owned and operated his own motorcycle repair business in Phoenix, AZ and a saw mill in Hawaii. Charles enjoyed spending time with family and had a love of raising great Danes.
Charles was preceded in death by his brother, James Blankenship; and his parents.
Survivors include his son, Shane Oris Blankenship and his wife Leilani of Hawaii; grandchildren, Shanekeoni, Elijah, Ethan, and Nalani Blankenship; sisters, Carole Wood and husband Gerald, Annette Leszczynski; great aunt, Alta Reiff and husband Arvin; and additional nieces nephews and family.
