Charles Edwin “Ed” Adams, 70, Independence, MO passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Maywood Baptist Church; 10505 E. Winner Rd, Independence, MO 64052. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Independence Optimist Special Olympics. Ed was born July 26, 1941 in Kansas City, KS the son of Wayne E. and Evelyn M. (Scott) Adams. Ed was a loving supportive husband and wonderful father. Nothing made Ed any prouder than the accomplishments of his Children. He loved sharing about them with his friends. He retired in 2005 from Lipton Tea. Ed was a member of Maywood Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for many years. He was a member of the Independence Optimist Club, and a charter member of the Rogers Coffee Club at the Main Street Café. Ed loved volunteering his time at Korte Elementary with the Kindergarten classes. He also loved working with the Neighborhood Network, a Hispanic Ministry. He knew no Spanish, but his smile and hugs communicated his love. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, woodworking, reading the National Geographic, and he always had a joke or funny comment to tell some.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his loving wife Rixie Adams of 50 years; his children and their families; daughter, Leslie Adams-Still and her children, Christopher, Ashleigh and Matthew; daughter, Lori Adams-Hanaway and her husband Dan and their family, Lindsey, Nicholas and Abby; son, Jeff Adams, and wife Tammy and their daughter Elise Evelyn; brother, Bill Adams and additional nieces, nephews, cousins and family.
