Beatrice Irene Aldridge, age 91, passed away on July 12, 2004 at St. Mary�s Manor, Blue Springs, MO. She was a twin, born on October 23, 1912, to Thomas and Nellie Roberts, in Deer Creek, OK. She grew up neat Mayfield, Kansas, taught at a country school, married Joseph Meloan, May 1939, and later moved to Independence, MO. He died in August 1950. She was remarried to William Aldridge at Warrensburg, MO, after finishing college. Betty was an elementary school teacher for 25 years in Independence and retired in May 1978. She was loved and admired by her students for her genuine concern and quality teaching. She also taught adult reading, worked in Hospice Care, and helped with neighborhood council. She was a faithful member and active servant in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Betty is survived by her five children, Terence Meloan, Indiana, Lewis Meloan, Montana, Julie Stevenson, Missouri, Debra Fry, Missouri, and Crystal Stowell of Texas. Also one sister, Fern Hendrix, Missouri. She has 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 10 brothers and sisters, grandson Dartagnan Meloan. A memorial service will be held at Speaks Memorial, 39th & 291 Highway, on Friday, July 16, at 10:00 a.m.. Visitation will be prior at 9:00 a.m.. Burial will be following at the Mound Grove Cemetery in Independence.
