Fern Rosalee Allen

Fern Rosalee Allen, 75, of Independence, MO passed away Monday, February 7th at her daughter�s home in Lee�s Summit. Services will be 10:00 am Thursday, February 10th at Rockwood Baptist Church. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery in Amsterdam, MO. Visitation will be 6-8:00 pm Wednesday, February 9th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Fern was born March 19, 1929, in Amsterdam, MO to George and Charlotte (Ferry) McKee. She was a member of Rockwood Baptist Church. Fern loved to spend time outdoors gardening and going to garage sales looking for that special item. Fern also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing scrabble or pitch. She had a special relationship with her grandchildren and was known as the grandma that got down on the floor to play. Mrs. Allen is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Janis and Darrell Holland, Lorna and Dennis Atkins, Sue and Dan Martens, son and daughter-in-law Steven B. and Teresa Allen; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters Bernice Stewart, Alice Sage, Frances Hockett and brothers Richard and Charles McKee; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Fern was preceded in death by her husband, William Allen in 1976, and 2 brothers and 1 sister. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Odyssey Hospice for their care.
