Monte William Allen, Jr., 91 of Lee’s Summit, MO journeyed to his Heavenly home on Thursday October 26, 2017. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 30, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit, 2 NE Douglas St., Lee’s Summit, MO 64063. Burial with full military honors to follow in Floral Hills East Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 3 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday evening at the church. Donations may be made in his name to the First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit. Monte was born on May 31, 1926 in Weaubleau, MO to Monte and Opal Allen. He graduated from Northeast High School and went on to proudly serve in the US Navy on the USS Kwajalein during WWII. He returned home to marry the love of his life, Anita. To this union they were blessed with three loving daughters. He built a successful commercial millwork business, Monte Allen Woodwork Company providing custom features for many Kansas City area landmarks. Monte will be lovingly remembered by his wife, of 70 years, Anita; daughters Monica Kurelac and Jill (Warren) Calvert; grandchildren, Karren, (Steven) Colbert, Justin (Lauren) Calvert, Matt Calvert, Lauren (Jeff) Taylor, Ashley (Eric) Silkwood and adoring great grandchildren, Natalie, Emily, and Claire Colbert, Benton, Ellie and Lucy Taylor and Ari Calvert. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Diana Allen Evans and brother Ed Allen. He was a member of the Blue Valley Kiwanis and served on various boards. Most important to Monte was his family. His world revolved around caring for them. He was the ultimate patriarch, planner and provider. The family would like to extend gratitude to his hospice nurse.
