Donna Ambro, 60, passed into the arms of the Heavenly Father on April 1, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. Born on August 7, 1956 in Little Rock, AR to Donald and Marilyn Wallis; shortly after Donna’s birth they relocated to Kansas City. She graduated from North East High School follow by UMKC with her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She married the love of her life, John M. Ambro in 1979. They shared 27 years of marriage before John passed away in 2006. She has touched lives and hearts of countless youth and their families through the 30+ years she dedicated to teaching at Englewood Christian School and later Summit Christian Academy. Donna was a woman of deep faith. She and John spent many years in youth ministry at Bethany Baptist (KCMO), Calvary (Indep., MO), Winnwood Baptist (NKCMO), and FBC (Augusta, AR). Most recently she attended Gateway Church in Blue Springs. She enjoyed reading, fishing, and spending time with her family, especially her “grand blessings”. She will be remembered for her servant’s heart, passion for teaching, her strength and unfailing faith in times of illness and sorrow, and most of all the joy she brought to her family and friends. She is survived by her two daughters: Amber Hanna (Marc) Lone Jack, MO and Ashley Gibson (Ken) Odessa, MO; 4 grandchildren: Madeline, Grace, Blayne, and Michael; her mother Marilyn Wallis, Indep., MO; two sisters: Mona Williams (Jimi) Lees’ Summit, MO, and Theresa Corwin (David) Blue Springs, MO, as well as her nieces, nephews, great niece, and great nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband John M. Ambro and her father, Donald Wallis. A visitation will be held from 5-7pm Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Englewood Assembly of God in Independence, MO with a service immediately following at 7pm. A private graveside service will be held at Longview Cemetery on April 5, 2017. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association
