Gordon “Mike” Amerine, 72, Blue Springs, MO passed away unexpectedly Aug. 1, 2016. Services will be 11 am, Sat., Aug. 6 at Faith United Methodist Church, 1950 S.W. Eagles Pkwy., Grain Valley, MO 64029; interment at Blue Springs Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Friday at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Habitat for Humanity, 505 N. Dodgion St., Independence, MO 64050. Mike was born Dec. 25, 1943 in Kansas City, MO, grew up in Independence and graduated from William Chrisman High School in the Class of 1961. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a millwright at Armco Union Wire Rope and retired from Honeywell Corp. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and previously was a member of Northern Boulevard United Methodist Church. He was a member of American Legion Post #21 and the Elks Lodge of Blue Springs. He was a fan of Royals, Chiefs and Mizzou and was a handyman who could fix anything. He was a kind and generous servant who accepted everyone. Most of all, he loved his family and grandchildren. Mike was preceded in death by his wife Donna Amerine, sister Lynn DeCamp and brother Gary Amerine. He is survived by son Shawn Amerine and wife Hilary Ann, Overland Park, KS; grandchildren Jacqueline Mae Amerine, Caleb Michael Amerine, Graham Harrison Amerine; sisters Anita Woolf and husband Steve; Sue Coleman, all of Independence, MO and brother Graham Amerine and wife Sandra, Lee’s Summit, MO.
