Cradled peacefully in the arms of his children, Loren C. Amos won a long battle with cancer by passing from this world into the arms of his Lord and Savior. This journey to a better life began on Monday, March 6, 2006 at Independence Regional Hospital. He joyfully reunites with Edwin S. and Louetta Amos, his mother and father to whom he was born February 21, 1924, as well as Evelyn, his wife of 46 years who has awaited their reunion since 1989. Loren is survived by his three birth children, Stephen Amos, Ronald Amos, and Cheryl Schoff, as well as their respective partners Jayne, Diana, and Ken to whom he has become a father. Other survivors celebrating his life are his twin sister Laura Perry, as well as younger sisters Dorothy Carl and Betty Payne. Immeasurable joy flowed into Lorens life from his surviving grandchildren Lisa, Christine, Michael, Amy, Andrea, Brandon, Jason, Heather, Jennifer, Meaghan, and his great grandchildren Kyron, Brett, Carli and Ethan. Loren married Evelyn Preston December 27, 1943 to begin a life dedicated to Christ, family, community, and country. He provided in abundance for his family; spiritually as an active member of the New Walnut Park Community of Christ church, and financially as a 37 year employee of the Gas Service Company from which he retired. Anyone wishing to make a contribution to honor Lorens life could choose the "Camp Angel Fund at the church above, which is dedicated to helping underprivileged children attend youth camp. Services will be 1:00 P.M., Friday, March 10, 2006 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Entombment will follow in the Mound Grove Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the chapel.
