David (Dave) P. Anderson

David Anderson of Kansas City, Missouri passed away January 20, 2021. David, age 80, was born in Horton, Kansas to Herbert W. and Margaret T. (Parish). He grew up in Leeds, Missouri where he met and married P. Darlene (Bowman) (1941-1990) and had three children. Mark of Riverside, Missouri. Laura, husband Bill Hlavacek of Kansas City, Missouri. Neal (1969-2020), wife Kim (Brown) of Lee's Summit, Missouri.
After graduating from East High School, David went to work for Jack Cooper Transport Company, retiring after 42 years of service. He also prepared income tax returns for over 50 years and was passionate about his clients.
David was an Eagle Scout and a Sachem in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was very proud being the second of three generations of Eagle Scouts. He served as Scout Master of Troop 363 for many years, remaining an active counselor for years following.
He enjoyed and was talented at designing/constructing rec rooms in basements of two of the family houses.
In 2001, he married Cathy (Villagran) of Independence. For twenty years, they enjoyed traveling and gathering with friends and family. Dave and Cathy were loyal fans of the KC Royals and Chiefs, but his passion was the MU Tigers, holding football season tickets for years. Grandpa Dave and Grandma Cathy also enjoyed three grandchildren, Carson Hlavacek and Morgan and S. Peyton Anderson.
David was preceded in death by wife Darlene and son Neal Anderson. He is survived by wife Cathy, son Mark and daughter Laura, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also survived by beloved sister Joyce Neff of Austin, Texas. Their daily phone calls of witty jokes, jabs, and general horseplay will be missed.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 25, 2021, from 6-8 p.m., with funeral service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2021, both at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO. Due to county restrictions, seating is limited. The service will be livestreamed via Speaks Chapels Facebook page. Interment will follow in Brooking Cemetery.
