Dennis Dean Anderson, 87 of Independence, MO passed away, Friday, October 18, 2013 at Rosewood Health Center. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday. October 22, 2013 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055 with cremation to follow. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time Tuesday at the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to the Groves Community Hospice or to South Crysler Restoration Branch. Dennis was born February 11, 1926 in Van Wert, IA to Clarence and Mary (Fessler) Anderson. He spent his early life in Iowa and graduated from Van Wert High School before entering the Marine Corps where he proudly served during WWII in several battles in the South Pacific. He was married to Leota (Eliason) on June 8, 1947 in Leon, IA and lived in Grinnell, IA for 12 years before moving to Independence 39 years ago. He retired in 1992 after 45 years of utility work in Gas and Electric distribution. He left Missouri Public Service in Lee’s Summit as manager of transmission, substation and construction. He was a very active member and elder of the South Crysler Restoration Branch. Survivors include; his loving wife of 66 years, Leota of the home; 2 sons, Douglas Anderson and his wife Linda of Kingsville, MO and Gregory Anderson of Independence, KS; a sister, Berneta Foland of Temecula, CA and 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
