Shelley Christine Anderson, 54, of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019. A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 6-8pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO 64055. A memorial service will be on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 3pm, also at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Shelley was born to Royden and Janice (Nelson) Groe on September 14, 1964 in Albert Lea, MN. She spent much of her life, and attended school, in Lake Mills, IA, but it was after her move to Newton, KS, Shelley met the love of her life, Steve Anderson. The couple married and soon started a family, eventually having three children. Shelley worked in client care assisting people with special needs, something she was very passionate about and loved doing. And she was perfect for the job; Shelley was extremely loving and caring, always doing things for others, and just a selfless woman. For the last several years, Shelley was a full-time grandma to her nine grandchildren and loved every moment of it. She also enjoyed thrift store shopping, (always for others), yardwork, her beautiful backyard, her birds, especially hummingbirds, her big dogs and cats, that were also her babies, spending time with friends and family, and she loved Jesus. Shelley is survived by her loving husband, Steve Anderson; children, Sarah Anderson, Seth Anderson, and Sadie (Jacob) Johnson; her mother, Janice (Mike) Lyons; sisters, Valerie (Dan) Johnson, Pauline Groe, and Nichole (Derek) Simmons; 9 grandchildren, Lizzy, Isaac, Camron, Eli, Lake, Lillie, Leah, Layton, and Landon; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Royden Groe; granddaughter, Lindsey; grandparents, Norris and Ruth Groe and Irvin Nelson and Laura Kvale; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eldo and Lola Anderson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Susan G. Koman Foundation, https://ww5.komen.org/.
