Robert Kenneth “Kenny” Anderton, 90, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Speaks Buckner Chapel 300 Adams St, Buckner, MO, 64016. The service will be at 10am on Tuesday, August 14th at the chapel.
Kenny was born on July 27, 1928 in Independence, MO to Edmond and Rosella (Danner) Anderton, and raised in Courtney Bottoms. He proudly served in the United States Army in Korea. Kenny worked until retirement at Ford Motor Company, was a member of VFW Post #3976, Buckner Masonic Lodge, Eagles Lodge # 385, and the Ararat Shrine. He had a passion for playing music, played all different types of guitar and loved teaching others. He also enjoyed fishing and boating at the lake, smoking meat (he made the best ribs and brisket), and watching the Chiefs and the Royals. Most of all, Kenny loved his family, never missing a school function or sporting activity of the grandchildren. Every year he would throw a Halloween party for his grandchildren and a Christmas Party for the adults. His sense of humor is going to be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred, 2 sisters and his parents.
Kenny was blessed with an amazing blended family and those survivors include: his companion of 31 years, Wilma Jean Peffer; son Robert “Bob” Anderton and wife Gale; daughters Brenda Ryals and husband Gene, Jeannie Scalise and husband Dean, and Jan Burkett and husband Kent; grandchildren Alisha Anderton, Gene Ryals (Kendra), Taylor Norman (James), Kyle Ryals, Jamie Anderton, Tanner Burkett; great-grandchildren Dylan Kroesen and McKenna Ryals; plus several other extended family and friends.
