Fern D. Andes, 95 of Independence passed away Wed. Jun 7, 2006 at The Groves Nursing Center. Services will be 10:00 am, Sat. Jun 10, 2006 at the Grove Community Room with the visitation being held one hour prior to the service. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the Center Place Restoration Branch or Camp Doniphan. Fern was born on Aug. 23, 1910 to John and Myrtle (Anderson) Andes in Lebeck, MO. She had worked in the accounting department at the R.L.D.S Center Stake Office. Prior to working at the Center Stake she had worked for the Inter-City Freight Lines and before that 18 years for National Bellas Hess. She loved all growing things, especially small children and loved spending time loving and caring for her many nieces and nephews. Fern also had a talent for cooking and did so at the Stone Church and other areas in the Center Place. She had previously been a member of the Stone Church Congregation and for the last 20 years had been a member of Waldo Restoration Branch. She will be remembered for her even temperament, compassion and concern for all. Fern was one of ten siblings and is survived by only two, a brother Ivan Andes and wife Mabel and a sister Audrie Andes. She is also survived by a sister in law Mary Andes and many nieces and nephews.
