Linda Andes, 72, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018. A visitation will be held from 9-10am on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. A service will follow at 10am. Interment will take place at Mound Grove Cemetery.
Linda was born on August 13, 1945 in Fort Scott, KS to Robert and Velma (McBride) Akin. In 1963 she graduated from William Chrisman High School and then on September 7 of that year she married John Andes. She worked for Western Electric (AT&T) and retired after 30 years and also earned an Associates Degree in Accounting at Metropolitan Community College. She worked 20 years at H&R Block doing tax preparation. Linda was part of the Community of Christ Parkview congregation and previously of the Walnut Park congregation. She loved to travel, especially to Colorado. She really enjoyed the beauty of nature; she and her husband would take spur of the moment road trips to enjoy the views of each season. She had a strong, devoted love to her family and faith. She was a kind friend to everyone she met.
Linda will be remembered by her husband of 54 years, John Andes of Independence, MO; son Robert Andes and wife Karrie of Lee’s Summit, MO; and 3 grandchildren Jacob, Kyle, and Maria Andes.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Linda took pride in the comfort of a family meal at home. She enjoyed the volunteer work her son, daughter-in-law and grandson did for Habitat for Humanity. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Habitat’s Gifts from the Heart Program: www.habitat.org/donate.
