Vlora Mary Andes, 84 of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, October 1, 2006 at the Medical Center of Independence. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Vlora was born March 11, 1922 to Morris & Cora Jacobsen in Goodwin, South Dakota. She moved to Independence, MO when she was 4 months old. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1939. She assisted her husband in the grocery store business before going to work for the Jackson County Election Board. She enjoyed working at the Laurel Club and being a guide at Vaile Mansion. She was also a member of the Lexington Road Club and belonged to the Liberty Street Community of Christ. She is survived by her husband Gordie of 60 years; one daughter, Vicky Patience and son in law Gerald Patience of Kansas City, MO; a grandson and his wife Jerome and Aimee Patience of Independence, MO; great granddaughter, Ryleigh Patience; step granddaughters, Pam Gilbert and Linda Patience and their families of Lake of the Ozarks, and step grandson David Patience and his family of Raytown, MO and lots of friends.
