Mary Tillman Andrews, 86, of Independence, MO, passed away, Friday, January 1, 2010 at the Kansas City Hospice House.
A celebration of her life will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will follow in the Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville, MO. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at the Speaks Suburban chapel. Donations may be made in her name to St. Mathews United Methodist Church or to the American Heart Association.
Mary was born September 29, 1923 in Port Clinton, OH to John Paul and Daisy Paralee (Jones) Tillman. She graduated from high school in New York and was also a graduate of Eastman School of Music in New York. She supported the war effort during WWII working in the War Dept. at the Pentagon. She had worked as a claims authorizer for the Social Security Administration before she retired. Her life was dedicated to her gift and love of music. She was a member of the Encore Theatre Group, Children’s Performing Theatre and was past Grand Worthy Matron for the O.E.S. in Harrisonville. She was a member of St. Matthews Methodist Church where she was the church pianist and the music director.
She was married to Bartlett R. Andrews, who preceded her in death in 1976.
Survivors include; 3 sons, E.R. Andrews, II and his wife Nancy of Sugar Creek, MO, Robert Tillman Andrews of Cabool, MO and Richard B. Andrews and his wife Shirley of Harrisonville, MO; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
