Marian Lillian Pauline Angotti, of Independence, Missouri, a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, September 6th, 2022. She was 83.
Marian was born on June 19th, 1939, in North Kansas City where she lived throughout her youth. Marian was the 5th child of Herschel and Esther Courtier.
Marian met the love of her life when she was 16, Thomas (Tom) Angotti and married September 27, 1957. Marian lived most of her life in Independence raising her four daughters and loving her six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Marian was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed. She was a lover of animals and took in any stray that her children or grandchildren brought to her house. She was an accomplished seamstress making numerous formal dresses for her children and grandchildren as well as everyday clothes and doll clothes. She never met a stranger that she wouldn’t welcome into her home and graced many with her kind and generous heart. She was an amazing cook and passed down many of her recipes to her family. She loved Christmas, collecting Santa Claus decorations, carousel horses, bingo, her shows, shopping, and spending time with her family. In her retirement, she spent many hours volunteering at Blackburn Elementary, attending mass at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, and traveling with her daughters across the country, to Europe and Disney World many times.
She leaves behind her heartbroken family, daughters Anna Amey (Jeffrey), daughter Michelle Rethford (Joe), Angela “Gigi” DuRee (Michael “Duke”), and Tommi Angotti: grandchildren Brianna Farrell (Ian), Nicole Trease (Guy), Danielle Amey, Christopher Rethford (Ciara), Cody Rethford and Renee DuRee; great-grandchildren Emma, Waylon, Walker, Herschel; Matthew, Memphis, Leia, Liv; Lexus and CJ: her sisters Mary and Peggy, and lastly her two cats Caesar and Cinderella.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her three sisters Dorothy, Norma, and Joan, and brother Kenneth. She is also preceded in death by her beloved dogs Abdul, Tabby, Pixie, Ricky, and Daisy and her cat Zeus.
Memorial service will be held on Monday September 12 from 6-8pm at Speaks Chapel in Independence. Mass will be held at St. Mark’s Catholic Church on September 13 at 11am.
