Clifford Leroy Arends, 82 of Blue Springs, MO passed away Fri. Oct 6, 2006 at St. Joseph Medical Center. Services will be 1:00 pm, Tue, Oct 10, 2006 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Indep. MO. Visitation will be from 6 - 8:00 pm Monday at the Chapel. Cremation will follow. Mr. Arends was born on Aug 18, 1924 to Richard and Rosie (Messman) Arends in Sturgis, MO. He had been the Sub/district director for the United Steelworkers of America (AFLCIO) retiring in 1987. Previously he had been in Bolts & Nuts department at Armco Steel and Sheffield Steel. He was a long time member of the Odd Fellows, the American Legion and had been a Mason for over 50 years. He was an Army veteran of WWII. Clifford was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time fishing and playing cards with his poker buddies. He loved his family and friends and was in turn loved by them. Clifford was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert Arends. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Arends of Blue Springs. Two sons, Darrell Arends of Blue Springs and Bryan Arends and wife Debbie of Independence. Three grandchildren, Charity Wolfe and husband Matt, Mandy Chancery and husband Kris and Matt Arends and wife Jessica. Two great grandchildren, Gavin and Kameryn Wolfe. A brother, Richard Arends and two sisters, Betty Case and Virginia Whittaker, all of Nebraska.
