David John Arends, 81, passed away on Feb. 15, 2017 in Independence, MO.
A graveside inurnment with military honors will be on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 11:00am, at MO State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.
David was born on Jan. 20, 1936, in Independence, MO, to David and Pauline (Patterson) Arends. He served in the US Army in the MASH Unit. After honorable discharge, he worked as a contracting painter for 35 years. Over the course of his career, he lived in Hawaii, Alaska (where he earned his pilot’s license), Montana, and Wyoming, and retired in New Mexico. He was a Seventh Day Adventist by faith. David married Beverly Virginia Ebaugh on Aug. 14, 2014 and they enjoyed two and a half years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife, 4 children, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; 2 children, and 1 sister.
