Elmer L. Armstrong, 93 of Independence passed away Sat, Aug 19, 2006 at the Point Lookout Nursing Home. Services will be 10:00 am, Wed. Aug 23, 2006 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Indep. MO. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 7 - 8:30 pm Tuesday at the Chapel. Contributions are suggested to the Blue Ridge Community of Christ Church. Mr. Armstrong was born on Nov. 1, 1912 to Ernest and Mary Estie (Vaughn) Armstrong in Lee�s Summit, MO. Elmer had been a tool man with American Oil in Sugar Creek from 1951 until his retirement in 1975. Elmer was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather whose life was dedicated to his family and his wife�s work in the Church and the American Red Cross. He was a member of the Blue Ridge Community of Christ Church and was ordained into the Priesthood in 1954 and had served as assistant Pastor at several Community of Christ Churches. He was an Air Force veteran of WWII. Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Armstrong on Jun 30, 2006. He is survived by two sons, Ronald Armstrong and wife Jeannie of Raytown, MO and Dale Armstrong and wife Marcia of Independence, a daughter, Diane White and husband Jerry of Blue Eye, MO, a sister, Opal Armstrong of Lee�s Summit, MO, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
