Maxine Armstrong, 84 of Independence passed away Fri, Jun 30, 2006 at The Groves Nursing Center. Services will be 10:00 am Thu, Jul 6, 2006 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Indep. MO. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 7 - 8:30 pm Wednesday at the Chapel. Contributions are suggested to the Blue Ridge Community of Christ Church. Mrs. Armstrong was born on May 20, 1922 to William and Elsie (Welch) Webb in Independence. She had been the Director of the Eastern Jackson County American Red Cross from 1971 until her retirement in 1985. Maxine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed painting, writing poetry and doing photography. She and her husband Elmer, enjoyed life by traveling to various parts of the country. She was a member of the Blue Ridge Community of Christ Church. She had previously been Executive Assistant to the Women�s Director for the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 12 � years. . She was ordained into the Priesthood in 1986 and had authored manuals for Women�s study materials. She had previously been a Center Stake Women�s Leader and Congregational Women�s Leader. Maxine was a member of the Knife and Fork Club, the Women�s Civic club and the Community Action Network. She is survived by her husband, Elmer L. Armstrong of Independence. A son, Dale Armstrong and wife Marcia of Independence, a daughter, Diane White and husband Jerry of Blue Eye, MO, a step-son Ronald Armstrong and wife Jeannie of Raytown, MO. A brother, Donald Webb of Independence, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
