Audrey Lee Harleman, our cherished mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Independence, Missouri, on January 8, 2025, at the age of 91. Audrey was born on May 8, 1933, to her parents Herbert & Leona Dunning, and grew up in Deepwater, Missouri. Audrey attended school in Lowry City and graduated from high school in 1951. Soon after that Audrey’s parents retired and moved to the Fairmount area of Independence, Missouri. Audrey met the love of her life, William (Bill) E. Harleman, a few years later and they were united in marriage on May 28th, 1958. Together they made a home in Independence, Missouri, and together they raised their four children. Audrey had a natural fascination with nature and an insatiable thirst for knowledge. She enjoyed reading, traveling, fishing, and playing games of all sorts. She enjoyed her seasonal home at Truman Lake where she could enjoy the birds, her flowers and nature. She especially enjoyed spending time on her porch with family and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed a good practical joke. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
Audrey was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill, parents Herbert & Leona Dunning; her six siblings and their spouses, Verda Dunning, Josephine Bellmeyer and husband Henry, Herbert Dunning and wife Rosie, Margie Moran and husband Don, Eva Swopes and husband Vernon, and Retha Wilson and husband Herb.
She is survived by her children, Valerie Harman and husband Bob, William E. Harleman Jr., Lyndel Harleman and wife Krisna, and Guy Harleman and fiancé Janese Yates; Grandchildren Brock Harmon, Billie Kay Harleman, Brett Harmon, Joshua Harleman and Jordan Harleman; Great grandchildren, Scout Harmon, Shyla Harleman, Trinity Sprott, and Finn Harmon; Step grandchildren Allen, Anna, and Amanda; Step great grandchildren Benton and Mia Kay. She is also survived by a dear sister-in-law, Vineta Padgett.
Audrey’s family will greet guests during a visitation on January 14, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Speaks Suburban Chapel, located 18020 East 39th Street, Independence, Mo. 64055.
A graveside service will take place on January 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Lowry City Cemetery, Lowry City, Mo. 64763.
