Eunita Joy (Bryan) Austin, age 88, of Independence, MO and formerly of Ludlow, MO, passed away on Dec. 1, 2014. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, December 5 at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 6 at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Grain Valley, MO. Eunita, known to many as Nell, was born on Oct. 11, 1926 in Mooresville, MO to Fred Ray Bryan and Pearl Melvinia (Long) Bryan. She graduated from Mooresville High School in 1944 and worked for three companies during her career as a bookkeeper: Lambert Moon, Benson Manufacturing Co. and Burlington Northern Credit Union.
She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse of 66 years, Marvin LaVere Austin; and brother, Sylvan Bryan of Climbing Hill, IA. Eunita is survived by her son, Gary Wayne Austin of Independence, and daughter-in-law Gloria Diane (Ponder) Austin; two grandsons, Kurt Mitchell Austin of Kansas City, KS and Kyle Christopher Austin of St. Peters, MO; three great-grandchildren; as well as her niece and nephews. Eunita will be remembered for her love of shopping, passion for sports and spoiling her dogs. She enjoyed watching Kansas City Chiefs games at the American Legion Post 21 and attending annual meetings at Burlington Northern Credit Union, where she worked as a manager for 18 years.
