Evelyn “Lorraine Austin, RN BSN, 83 of Independence, MO, passed away, Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Research Hospital. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held October 16th, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the South Crysler Community of Christ, 3100 S. Crysler, Independence, MO 64055. Donations may be made in her name to South Crysler Community of Christ Church. Lorraine was born May 13, 1931 in Blue Springs, MO to Otto and Verna (Rush) Lungwitz and has been a lifelong area resident. She was a RN and had worked for Two Rivers Psychiatric Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, collecting items and, most of all spending time with her family. She was a member of South Crysler Community of Christ and served in the after school program, JAM, as well as volunteering for the Lunch Buddies program at Three Trails Elementary School. She had also been a member of the Junior Service League. She is survived by; her husband of 66 years, Bill Austin of the home; 3 daughters, Connie Malone of Springfield, MO, Becky Caruso of Albuquerque, NM and Lorrie Ross of Independence, MO; a son, Billy D. Austin of Independence, MO; 5 grandchildren, Tommy Caruso, Travis Caruso, Rachel Ross, Alyssa Austin and Billy D. Austin, Jr and 2 great grandchildren, Isa and Sophia.
