MARVIN LAVERE AUSTIN
Marvin LaVere Austin, 88, of Independence, MO, passed away on September 15, 2013. Marvin was born on October 28, 1924 in Mooresville, MO to Clarence Grover Austin and Catherine (Sturwoldt) Austin. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a corporal in the 20th Armored Division and worked more than 32 years at Progressive Manufacturing Company in Kansas City, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Oakland Faye Copple-Bliss, and five brothers, Jesse Homan Austin, Stanley Kenneth Austin, Victor Lorraine Austin (Penn), John Leonard Austin (Red) and Pelorus Austin. Marvin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eunita Joy (Bryan) Austin, his son, Gary Wayne Austin of Independence, and daughter-in-law Gloria Diane (Ponder) Austin, two grandsons, Kurt Mitchell Austin of Kansas City, KS and Kyle Christopher Austin of Ballwin, MO, three great-grandchildren, his sister, Gail Stephens of Casa Grande, AZ, and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18th at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 19th at Swan Lake Memorial Park in Grain Valley, MO.
