William R. Autrey, 53, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, December 5th at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO.
Bill was born April 16, 1962 in Oxnard, CA as one of three children to Ben and Mitsuko Autrey. As a Navy family he grew up near San Diego, CA but they moved to Oklahoma where he graduated high school and eventually received his Bachelor’s from University of Oklahoma. He married his beloved Kerrie Denise (Ivie) on January 31, 1988 and together raised their wonderful daughter, Bailey. He was a devoted husband and supportive father. Bill worked for Gallo Winery in the late 80’s then for Glazer’s Beverage (formerly Premier Wine and Spirits) for over 20 years and finally as a Regional Manager for Independent Distiller’s. He was a charismatic, tender hearted and gregarious man who could make a friend anywhere. He loved his daughter and supported her athletic activities. He even coached her competitive softball team. He loved animals and will be missed by beloved dogs, Winnie, Dexter, and Boz.
He leaves behind wife, Kerrie; and daughter, Bailey Autrey of the home; sister, Barbara Trotter (Tim); brother, James Autrey (Barbara); nieces Kathryn Autrey, Taryn Goodwin, Haley Jones, and Anna Wang; nephews, Harrison Blake Hartzell, and Jacque Wang; sister-in-law, Sherrie Hartzell (Randy); brother-in-law, Jimmy Ivie (Aiying); and numerous other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family encourages contributions to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
