Annetta Clatworthy Baker, 92, of Blue Springs, passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2018. A graveside service will be held at Mt Washington Cemetery in Independence on Monday, February 19th at 11:00am. Annetta was born September 21, 1925 in Harrisonville, MO to Jonathan and Alta (Hinora) Clatworthy. She graduated from Harrisonville High School in 1943, and then Central MO State University in 1946. She married Charles William Baker on July 29, 1949. Teaching was her passion as she taught in Concordia, MO from 1946-1948, in Blue Springs from 1948-1949 and then again from 1961-1975. Annetta went on to receive her Master’s degree from Central MO State University in 1975. She was the Assistant Principal of Blue Springs Jr. High from 1975-1986. Even after retirement in 1986, she continued to teach for many years in the G.E.D. program. Annetta was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs, the MO State Teacher’s Association, the MO State Retired Teacher’s Association, the Retired Educators of Blue Springs, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Sigma Sigma Sigma, and St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary. Annetta is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles and her brother Edwin Clatworthy. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Kathryn Baker of Parkville, MO.
