Florence Baker, 96, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, October 6, 2017.
She was born on June 1, 1921 in Ruby, Alaska to Fred and Lena (Pitka) Milligan. In 1943 she married Holly Carl Baker in Anchorage, AK. After World War II they made their way to Independence, MO where they raised 4 children. Florence was a homemaker and a very talented seamstress, however was mostly known for her Kewpie Paintings. She was a member of the International Rose O’Neill Organization.
She will be remembered by her son Ken Baker of Independence, MO; daughter Carol Lewis of Wood Heights, MO; daughter Bonnie Hirsch and husband Jim of Harrison, AR; daughter Judy Baker of Kansas City, MO; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years: Holly C. Baker, 5 sisters, 1 brother, and 1 granddaughter.
A Celebration of Life for both Florence and Holly will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Buckner Restoration Church 2607 N. Twyman Rd, Independence, MO, 64058.
