Mildred Balko, 87, of Sugar Creek, Mo, passed away, Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Rosewood Health Center. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Burial will follow in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time Wednesday at the chapel. Mildred was born October 15, 1926 in Sugar Creek, MO to George and Anna (Pauliny) Balko. She has been a lifelong area resident having graduated from Northeast High School in 1944. She had worked as an administrative assistant for Youthcraft Coats and Suits Inc. for a number of years. She enjoyed reading and was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kansas City, MO. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Mary Zevecke and Anna Petentler and a brother, George Balko.
