James Orin "Jim" Ballantyne

James “Jim” O. Ballantyne, 80, Independence, MO passed away July 5, 2014. Graveside services with Full Military Honors will be at 11 am, Monday, July 14 at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-5 pm, Sunday, July 13 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Jim was born Sept. 20, 1933 in Page, NE and earned a B.S. in Business from the University of Nebraska. He was District Sales Manager of the Tire Dept. for K-Mart and later worked for Uniroyal and other tire companies before his retirement. He was a member of the Community of Christ and a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed cutting wood, going to movies and traveling. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Donna Ballantyne, sons Paul & Daniel Ballantyne and grandson Brandon Hankins. He is survived by daughters Nancy Taylor and husband David, Grandview, MO; Laura Hankins and husband Jeff; son John Ballantyne, all of Independence, MO; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
