Madeline R. Ballantyne, 93, of Lee�s Summit, MO, passed away, Saturday, December 11, 2004 at Lee�s Summit Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at Floral Hills East Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Donations may be made to the Lee�s Summit Community of Christ Church. Madeline was born November 20, 1911 in Eagleville, IA to Charles H. and Nelle (Pearson) Rogers. She was graduated from Eagleville High School in 1930 and from Graceland College in Lamoni, IA in 1932. In 1937 she received a B.A Degree in History from Simpson College Indianola, IA and was elected to Pi Gamma Mu and Pi Beta Phi fraternities. She later attended the University of Wisconsin Graduate School and received a M.A. Degree in Library Science in 1966. She taught in the public schools of northern Missouri and southern Iowa, for over 20 years and in 1966 she joined the Graceland College faculty as a professional librarian and Assistant Professor of English. She was appointed Head Librarian in 1972. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church. On January 8, 1944 she married J. Dean Ballantyne of Lamoni, IA, he died in 1994. After retiring in 1976 she and Dean moved to John Knox Village in Lee�s Summit in 1977. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
