Nolan Merle Barb, 87 (older than dirt!), passed away on April 13, 2016, in Warrensburg, MO.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016, at 3:00 p.m., at Elmwood Cemetery. He will also be inurned at Laurel Cemetery, Haven, KS, on June 11, 2016, at 2:00 p.m.
Contributions may be made to Warrensburg Veterans Home in his honor.
Nolan was born on December 9, 1928, to Bartley and Lillie Ida (Bauman) Barb, in Haven, KS. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After honorable discharge, he married Jewell (Betsworth) in 1955, and worked as a truck driver for numerous KC transportation companies. Nolan was a member of the VFW Honor Guard, Teamsters Local #41, and he loved to hunt, fish, and trap. He loved the outdoors. He delighted in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was funny and gregarious, and incredibly compassionate and selfless.
Nolan is survived by his son, Jack Betsworth (Bonnie); 13 grandchildren, including his favorite, Dana; numerous great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Barbara Betsworth; and nephews, Michael Barb (Cheryl), and Dan Huesel (Lana). He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell; son, Bob Betsworth; daughter, Sue McFarland; and brother, William Barb, and sister-in-law, Kathleen Barb.
