Barbara Ann Baldus, of Buckner, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. She was 79 years old.
Barbara was born on October 13, 1943 to Jesse and Eupha Murray in Iowa City, Iowa; she was a coal miner’s daughter and one of thirteen children. She both attended and graduated from Seymour High School. During that time of her life, Barbara took a job babysitting for a friend and through them met what would become the love of her life; Wayne Baldus. On May 24, 1964, mere 3 months after their first date, Wayne and Barbara vowed their love and devoted their lives to one another. From their union came 3 boys: Tom, Ron, and David. When her boys were young, Barbara was a proud den mother for her beloved boy scouts. She loved camping and being outdoors with her family, frequenting Pom de Terre Lake. She was selfless and loved to nurture those she loved, always making sure bellies were fed and faces were smiling. In fact, she spent over 30 years feeding the mouths of Fort Osage High School with her delicious cooking. In her free time, Barbara adored being with her grandchildren, shopping at retail stores (Khol’s being a personal favorite), crafting blankets, and making sure those she loved were well taken care of. She will be so dearly missed.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; Jesse and Eupha (Stroud) Murray, and her siblings; Bill Murray, Mina Trumper, Jesse Murray, Mae Barker, Gene Murray, Jimmy Murray, Waneta Rager, and Johnny Murray. She is survived by her beloved husband; Wayne Baldus, her children; Tom, Ron, and David Baldus, her siblings; Ted Murray, Tommy Murray, Betty Eagle, and Mary Brown, her grandchildren; Kara Hackley, Tommy Baldus, Kelsie Baldus, Carlie Baldus, Samantha Chappell, Michael Baldus, and Matthew Baldus, her great-grandchildren; Gabriel Baldus, Jaidyn Baldus, Rylie Hackley, Dio Hackley, Caitlyn Baldus, and Cole Baldus, and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara will have a visitation at Speaks Buckner Chapel (300 Adams, Buckner, MO 64016) on Friday, June 2, 2023 from 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held at Speaks Buckner Chapel on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 10am with a graveside service immediately following at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in her honor.
