Barbara Ann (Furness) Doll went to be with her Lord on September 17, 2024. She was born in Everett, MA on February 14, 1940 to William Bradbury Furness and Edith Maxine (Jones) Furness. She is survived by her husband, Delton L. Doll, three daughters, Julie Ann Sprowls, Joyce Ann Thomas, and Jennifer Ann Doll, and two sisters in Massachusetts, Nancy (Howard) Thomas and Linda (John) Tassi, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
After graduating high school, Barbara went to work for an insurance company for a time before she enlisted in the U.S. Army. She entered the Army in the Intelligence corps, and she was stationed in Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, where she met Delton. They were married in the Army base chapel on July 22, 1964, and they moved back to the Kansas City area when Delton’s service time was up. They began having children a year after they were married, having three girls two and a half years apart. Years later, Barbara went back to work and back to school, getting her associates degree and getting certified in medical billing, and began working for John Knox Village, and later worked for St. Joseph Hospital. In 1991, Barbara and Delton began raising two of their grandchildren, from the ages of four and two years old. They always had a houseful up until they downsized to their current residence. This past July, Barbara and Delton celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Barbara had many hobbies over the years. She enjoyed training and showing dogs in her early years through when her children were young, then transitioned to fostering rescue dogs in her later years. She also enjoyed riding horses through many decades of her life, teaching each of her daughters how to handle and ride horses. She also enjoyed knitting and making jewelry.
Barbara was a strong woman. She faced many life challenges over the years, and always persevered. She loved her family immensely, and she tried to help them, and advocate for them, as much as possible.
