Barbara Mildred Kaat

Barbara Mildred Kaat, 85 of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, November 28, 2024 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel with burial to follow in Lobb Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, evening, December 3, 2024 at the chapel. Donations may be made in her name to the organization of the donor’s choice. Barbara was born on November 16, 1939 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada and spent her early life there, attended public schools and from Park City Business College in Prince Albert, graduating with honors on a 17 course home study program. Barbara and her husband moved to the Independence area in 1961 and became a part of the RLDS church and taught at the Stone Church preschool for many years and had also worked as a bank teller for over 10 years and enjoyed her work there. Spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren gave her the most joy in her life. She enjoyed writing and was a published author. She was a member of the RLDS and later the Remnant Church. She is survived by 5 children, Ralph Kaat and wife Deborah of Raytown, MO, Theresa Kaat-Wohlert and husband Bob of Independence, MO, Angie Kaat-Mann and husband Dave of Alva, FL, Casper Kaat of Independence, MO and Daniel Kaat and wife Jennifer of Kansas City, MO; a brother, John Klughart of Canada; 12 grandchildren 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Casper Kaat, Jr., 2 brothers, Lester and Gordon, 2 sisters, Linda and Susan and a great grandchild, Katima.
