Barbara Marion Steinbach

Barbara Marion Steinbach, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on June 16, 2023, at the age of 80. She was surrounded by her family in her home in Independence, Missouri.

Barbara was born on December 26, 1942, in Glendale, California to Kenneth A. Simmons and Jean H. Francis. After losing her mother as a newborn and her father being active in the military service, Barbara moved to Foster, Missouri and was raised by her beloved grandparents Clarence and Flossy Simmons. As a woman with strong character she got what she wanted from life with kindness and hard work. Barbara married Donald Steinbach in 1963 and together they raised two loving children, Michael and Lori. While raising her family as a proud homemaker Barbara made sure that everything was taken care of from cooking delicious meals to the tiniest detail of the house's organization. She was a great cook who was known for her mouth-watering delicacies by those who had the fortune to share a meal with her. She was also known for her delicious cakes and pies.

Barbara loved reading books that enlighten different genres. She enjoyed listening to country music on her record player in the kitchen while cooking and cleaning, Elvis was her favorite. Her grandchildren share fond memories of icing Christmas cookies while listening to Blue Christmas by Elvis. Barbara had an affectionate nature that garnered love from those she met. Her greatest joy came from spending quality time with her family.  Barbara and Donald shared the of love for gardening. They had many beautiful flower and rose gardens that she enjoyed until her final days. 

Though Barbara has left this world, her memory will always live on through the people who knew her best. Her family and friends say goodbye to Barbara with heavy hearts but hold on to the beautiful moments they shared with her. Rest in peace Barbara Marion Steinbach, we will forever cherish the memories you left behind.

Barbara is survived by her son, Michael Steinbach, his wife Missy and their children: Derek (Isabella), Jessie, and Amanda; daughter, Lori Halsey, her husband Brad and their children: Kailey (Joshua) Felz and Jarett; two great-grandchildren: Brantley and Stetson Felz. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Donald Steinbach: beautiful great granddaughter, Oakley Felz: parents, Kenneth and Jean Simmons: Grandparents, Clarence and Flossy Simmons.

In honor of her incredible life, family and friends will be holding a visitation at Speaks Suburban Chapel located at 18020 East 39th St S Independence MO 64055 on Friday June 23rd from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM followed by a funeral service from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. On Saturday June 24th at Salem Cemetery located in Foster MO 64745 there will be a burial ceremony starting at 11:00 AM.
