Raymond Lee Barker, 86 of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday at Bethel Baptist Church, 2406 Route 291 Hwy., Independence, MO 64057 with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:30 am until service time Friday at the church. Donations may be made in his name to Bethel Baptist Church. Raymond was born November 9, 1936 in Kingsville, MO to Roy Ernest and Venita May (Halsey) Barker. He attended Holden High School and moved to Independence at an early age. He had worked for over 29 years at the Kansas City ATA until his retirement in 2000. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing, was a big soccer fan and enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a member at Bethel Baptist where he served as head trustee for many years. He played guitar with Freedom Gospel for over 25 years. He is survived by; his wife of 66 years, Diana of the home; 3 daughters, Carol Leibold and husband Kevin, Terry McLaughlin and husband Lewis and Michelle Snyder and husband Robert all of Independence, MO; a brother, Jerry Barker and wife Bonnie of Holden; a sister, Sharon Moody and husband David of Holden; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
