Eva M. Barnes, 80, of Independence, passed away April 12, 2019. A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 16th from 9-10:00am with a service at 10:00am, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery in Kansas City. Eva was born on November 26th, 1938 in Sioux City, IA to Frank and Hilda Brumfield. Eva worked for 22 years as a data transcriber for the U.S. government before retiring in 2000. She was a member of the Priscillia Circle and the Eldorado Camping Club. Eva is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Barnes; her sister, Frances Nonnweiler and her brother, Frank Brumfield. She is survived by her two daughters, Venus and Starlet; 3 grandchildren, Krista, Jeremy and Hannah; and 1 great-grandchild, Briana. Contributions may be made in her honor to Crossroads Hospice.
