James "Barney� Barnes, 85, of Independence, MO passed away on January 31, 2006 at the Missouri Veterans Home, Warrensburg, MO. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2006 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The service will follow at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel. Burial at Floral Hills Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Blue Ridge Methodist Church Building Fund. Barney was born on January 30, 1921 in St. Joseph, MO to Eli and Minnie Barnes. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII, and earning 3 bronze stars. He went on to work for the Local #10 as an ironworker from 1963-1983. Barney was also a member of the Eldorado Camping Club from 1971-1991. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Eva M. Barnes; two daughters, Venus M. Hegle and Starlet M. Tebbe; two brothers, Delbert and Kenneth Barnes; 4 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
