Jeanne Ann Barnes, 76 of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at John Knox Village Care Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 26, 2018 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday evening at the chapel. Jeanne was born November 10, 1941 in Independence, MO to Donald and Vida V. (Butler) Rogers and has been a lifelong area resident. She was a beloved wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed cooking, reading, music, flower gardening and most of all spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the RLDS church. Survivors include; her loving husband of 58 years, Byron “Barney” Barnes of the home; a daughter, Susie Vanarsdall and husband Bill of Liberty, MO; a son, Michael Barnes and wife De Ann of Altus, OK; 2 sisters, Mary Brown of Wichita, KS and Vicki Hazelrigg of Lakewood, CO; 4 grandchildren, Tasha Terrell, Taylor Barnes, Tara Vanarsdall and Trenton Vanarsdall and 2 great grandchildren, Elli and Gideon Terrell. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Donald Rogers, Jr. and a sister, Virginia Craven.
