Leslie Diane Barnes, 47 of Independence, MO passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Cremation is planned with a memorial gathering to be held from 4 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday evening, February 24, 2016 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Donations may be made in her name to William Chrisman High School. Leslie was born September 23, 1968 in the Subic Bay Naval Hospital in the Philippines. She graduated from high school in Denton, TX. She received her bachelors in biology from the University of North Texas and her masters in education from Graceland University. Leslie was a teacher and has worked for William Chrisman High School for the last 11 years. Prior to that she had taught special education in North Kansas City. She currently volunteered her time helping students with special needs. She was an animal lover and self proclaimed rat rescue volunteer. Survivors include; 2 daughters, MacKenzie Aryn Barnes and Kelsey Taylor Barnes; a son, Harrison Reed Barnes; her parents, Bill and Bonnie Glod, Sr. of Denton, TX; a brother Bill Glod, Jr. and wife Jeanne Marie Hoffman of Falls Church, VA and her uncle, Paul Weber and wife Dorothy of Pensacola, FL.
