G. Jeane Barnett, 85, passed from this earth on Friday, December 17, 2021. A memorial service will be held on Thursday December 23, 2021, at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 10:00 am, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street in Independence.
Jeane was born on March 6, 1936, in Kansas City, MO to Marguerite (Huston) Payne and Glen Howard Payne. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in Independence, Class of 1954. She married the love of her life, Bobby Joe Barnett, on June 26, 1956, and they were married 59 years until his death in 2016.
Before children she was employed with Bendix Corporation and General Motors. After the birth of her children, she was actively involved in their education and extracurricular activities. She was a member of the Independence Young Matrons, Christian Women's Fellowship, the PTA at Ott Elementary, Bryant Elementary, William Chrisman Junior and William Chrisman High School. She also volunteered at the Independence School District and the Boone County Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
She loved to travel, read, play cards, and walk on the beach looking for seashells.
She is survived by her son, Stanley Crumbaugh (wife Michele), daughters, Julie Barnett (Duane Anstaett), Katherine (KiKi) DesCombes (husband Daniel), Janet McCurry (husband Mike). Highlights in her life were her grandchildren, Kyle Crumbaugh (wife Jennifer), Alyson Crumbaugh, Rachael Stadter, Jessica Rice (husband David), Aaron Davis, Todd DesCombes (wife Tori), Christina DesCombes, Jayme Frye, and Jillian Frye. Her great-grandchildren, Quintin, Cameron, Jacardi, Gunner and Gracelynne. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, husband Bob, and great grandson. Gauge Cope.
