Janet Scott-Barnett, 78, of Independence, passed away March 22, 2018. It would be impossible to adequately memorialize in words a life that meant so much to so many. Janet was the ultimate giver. She gave everything of herself for those dearest to her. In a life of immense joys and tragedies, she remained spunky, steady and ever wise. “This too shall pass.” She was selfless, compassionate, generous and tenacious in her care and protection of those she loved. A published poet, she was eloquently honest and frank. She found joy in her family, music, dance and French onion dip. While those she left here on earth will miss her humor, her counsel and her encouragement, we are comforted in knowing that she is finally tap dancing among those who went before her. “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.” A visitation will be held Saturday, March 31st from 9-10:00am with a memorial service following at 10:00am, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Brain Injury Association of America; P.O. Box 7416, Merrifield, VA 22116.
