Mary Raye Barnett, 87, Independence, Missouri

Mary was born on July 11, 1934, in Sabetha, Kansas, the daughter of Bertram and Genevieve (Fellers) Hawkins. She attended and graduated from Northeast High School class of 1951.

Mary was Executive Secretary at the Missouri Court of Appeals in Kansas City, MO until 1983, she then transitioned to Personnel Manager at Breddo Inc. for a number of years before becoming Director of Human Resources for American Ingredients. She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and Dog Training Club of Independence. Mary loved dogs of all kinds, and enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra, big band music and all music from the 40’s. She made a point to make a trip each year to go trout fishing even into her 80’s. Mary was a true Chiefs fan and a season ticket holder for near 50 years. She was a very hard and dedicated worker paying attention to every detail. Above all Mary loved her family and the Lord. She will be greatly missed.

Mary is survived by her children, Douglas Harr, Michael Hopkins, Susan Schrier, Thomas Barnett; grandchildren, Daniel Harr, Brandon Schrier, Taz Schrier, Margaret Hopkins, Trevor Harr, Devon Schrier; great grandchildren, Hillary Harr, Hank Harr, Theodore Schlote, Finneus Schlote. She is preceded in death by her parents Bertram and Genevieve Hawkins; and siblings Gene Morris and Betty Rayborn.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 19th, 2022, at Carson Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, Missouri 64050. Family will be greeting guest between the hours of 1:00 - 3:00 pm. Inurnment will be private.
