Wilma “Alene” Barnett, 93 of Independence passed away Mon. Dec. 3, 2007 at Rosewood Living Center. Services will be 2:00 pm Fri. Dec. 7, 2007 at the Carson- Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Indep. MO with the visitation being held one hour prior to the service. Burial in Floral Hills Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to Grandma’s Alzheimer Fund, 300 N. Osage, Indep. MO 64050 or to The Groves Living Center or The Groves Community Hospice, 1515 W. White Oak, Indep. MO 64050. Mrs. Barnett was born on Jan 16, 1914 to Delmer and Josephine (Sidwell) Egbert in Windsor, MO. She had been a teacher at the Slover Park Church Pre-school for many years. Alene was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed camping, crocheting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church. Mrs. Barnett was preceded in death by her husband, James “Red” Barnett in 1999. She is survived by a son, Bob Barnett and wife, Jeane of Independence, MO. A sister, Jeannie Donnell of Liberty, MO. Seven grandchildren, Stan Crumbaugh and wife Michele, Julie Davis, Katherine DesCombes and husband Danny, Janet Frye and husband Jon, Shirley Long and husband Gary, Jeff Barnett and wife Kathy and Sandy Barnes and husband Frank. Fourteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
