Milo Barnhard Jr

Milo Barnhard, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2013. Milo was born in Independence, MO on August 12, 1921 to Milo and Mary Barnhard, Sr. Milo graduated from William Chrisman High School and married Nadine (Peggy) Inman on June 29, 1940.
Milo attended Bradley University and trained as a journeyman tool and die maker at Caterpillar Tractor in Peoria, IL. He was a World War II veteran serving in the European African Middle Eastern Theater and concluded his tour of duty at the Nuremberg Trials in July of 1946. He worked for Amoco Oil Company International for 35 years in United States, British Isles, British West Indies, India and Egypt. He was a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Milo was a senior officer in the Civil Air Patrol, an Air Search and Rescue Group affiliated with the USAF mentoring high school youth seeking a career in the USAF. Milo was an amateur radio operator; KC5AZ and was a member of the Community of Christ Amateur Radio Club and President of the Ararat Radio Club,
Milo was a life member of the Independence Lodge #76 and 33rd degree Scottish Rite mason. He was a member of the Truman Society of the Grand Lodge of Missouri and life member of the Ararat Shrine. He was recently recognized for 60 years of masonic service.
Milo was preceded in death by his parents; brother Kenneth; wife Nadine of 56 years; grandson Patrick Barnhard; and wife Laurel of 14 years. He leaves behind three sons, Bill and wife, Janet, Dwight and wife Carolyn, David and wife Joyce; three grandson, Scott & wife Carol Barnhard, Kirk & wife TJ Barnhard, Matt & wife Jill Barnhard and Sonia Barnhard; six great grandchildren, Trent, Taylor, Tanner, Mia, Noah and Keegan 2 sisters, Barbara and husband Warren Gose, Judy and husband Pat Spillman; 2 nephews, Peter and Chris Gose.
A visitation will take place from 6-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, at Mound Grove Cemetery.
