Ruth M. Barrett

Ruth M. Barrett, 92, of Independence, MO, passed away Monday, August 21, 2006 at Rosewood Health Center. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2006 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will follow the service in the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the African Restoration Ministries, PO Box 4085, Independence, MO 64051. Ruth was born February 9, 1914 in Larkinburg, KS to John and Maude (Bradley) Bowser. Mrs. Barrett was active in the RLDS church and along with her husband, started a congregation in Albuquerque, NM. She was a people person and loved entertaining and preparing food for others. Ruth is survived by her daughter Judy McElroy and husband Jerry; son Bill Barrett and wife Pam; grandchildren Melinda, Steve, Jeff and Ron Swift, Michael Barrett, Melody Lassen; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Alvie Barrett in December 1988.
