Joyce Elaine Basler, 68, of Independence, MO, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2019. Visitation will be held from 9-11am on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Burial will be private at Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence, MO. Joyce was born on January 20, 1951 to Glen and G’Leona (Ralston) McDole in Moorehead, IA. After high school, Joyce attended beauty school and became a beautician, a career she loved and enjoyed for over 30 years. In 1972, she married Alan Basler and the two had a son, Jevon, and daughter, Alana. Joyce was a wonderful mother and wife, she was good at keeping things clean and tidy and was a great cook. She was caring, kind and would do anything for anyone. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters. She was an alto in the Messiah Choir and performed at Carnegie Hall with her sister, Glenda. Joyce was also a very gifted quilter. She was ornery and had a good sense of humor and loved everyone. Joyce is survived by her husband, Alan; daughter, Alana (Clifton) Castleman; brother, Stewart (Patty Ann) McDole; brother, Cal Duane (Patty Vickey) McDole; sister, Glenda Laraine McDole White (James); father-in-law, Herman Basler; brother-in-law, Philip Basler; grandchildren, McKenzie, Erik, Hailey, and Anthony; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; and son, Jevon Basler.
