Helen Louise Bass, 91, passed away on March 25, 2016.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann’s Parish, 10113 E. Lexington Ave., on Friday, April 1, 2016, at 10am. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 31, from 6-8pm, with Rosary at 5:30pm, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. She will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Helen, daughter of Eva Slanko, was born September 17, 1924, in Sugar Creek, MO. She married Eugene Alva Bass, and to this union were born five children. Helen worked for Colony Paint, Pooches Cafeteria, and retired from St. Mary’s High School as a cafeteria server. She enjoyed bowling and playing bingo, and was a faithful member of St. Ann’s. She adored her family and children; she will be remembered for her open-door policy and passion for helping her loved ones.
She is survived by her children, Donald Bass (Donna), Charles “Chuck” Bass (Debbie), and Pam Hickson (Richard); 17 grand-children; 31 great-grand-children; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Bass; son, Ronald Bass; daughter, Eugenia “Gina” Watson; and all her brothers and sisters. Helen accompanied her dear friend and sister-in-law, Rose Mary Slanko, to Heaven on March 26, 2016.
